I watched an old an old computer game review show.
It was very interesting to see where the computer game industry started from, and everything that has changed. It was silly and obviously made from kids but it still had some interesting points that refer to the class. Mid-way through they reviewed the first simulation fighter game that you could play with people around the world. It went through the phone cables and cost the amount it took for a long distance phone call in order to play. What was most interesting was that when describing this product the host said that online games are going to become a bigger part of the gaming industry. I found this so interesting because that's exactly what has happened. Now almost all games and certainly all game councils have the ability to connect to people around the world. The society around the gaming industry took that ability in and grew it.
I also found it really interesting that when reviewing games they had girls rank the game and boys rank the game. The gaming industry is know for being very sexist, usually excluding girls. This show didn't. Girls were asked the same questions as boy, and had just as thought out responses. An industry that is now, seemingly, built off the idea that women can't enjoy the games did not start like that. It makes me wonder when did girls get isolated out of the gaming community and why. If this show though girls were just as involved in games, who though they weren't? It was also just fun to watch these kids complement games on there good graphics and sound quality back in 1993.
