Watching this short film from the 1920s about the development of communication opens your eyes as to see how far we have come in the information society with the development of technology over the years. Beginning with the electric bell, advancing to the telegraph, adding underwater cables to connect the telegraph, and eventually implementing the telephone into the world of technology is just the beginning to what we are using today. Knowing of the background information and seeing where it all began, including the structure and function of the devices, allows the information society of today to grasp how advanced our communication is and how much more there is to learn, discover, and unfold. Technology is ever-changing and we can learn from this video that communication is also benefiting from the advancements. If we have come this far with mobile and wireless devices for communication what is to be expected in the years to come?
