So after playing the ARIS game we found it interesting. It
was a cool concept to have to go around to play the game. It is unusual to see
an app that makes helps get people outside. Most app games these days help the
sedative culture that comes with most technology. We think that the game could
be a lot of fun to play with friends. It is a built in adventure and a way to
explore your town. This
type of game could be formatted to work with certain age groups. We could see
this being a hit with children (old enough to read), or making school projects
appealing and interesting.
What we saw as a downside was the user generated part of the app. That
made some of the missions hard to understand and the instructions confusing. If
you really had no clue what about your surroundings it would be hard to find
where some of the places were. Over all the game had a lot of potential, but
you had to be ware of some of the games. Also it would be a game better played
during a warm time of year. Walking around in 20 below weather takes a lot of
the fun out of the game.
