Thanksgiving

I interviewed my mother and asked her about her technology use. She talked about computers and how she has seen them develop into what they are today. When she started as an accountant, computers were still very new and basic. She learned most of her computer skills through on the job training. As computers became more advanced, so too did the training she needed to use various software. Using a personal computer at home helped hone some of the more basic computer skills, like adapting to using a mouse, but more intricate information processing took more time to master. At times, computers seemed to advance faster than she could adapt, especially in the last 10 years. Companies aren't able to adapt fast enough, so the computers and software she used were always only at the level of her employer.

All of this seems to coincide with what we've learned in this course. We've talked about how information processing has evolved so quickly, and how there are difficulties keeping up with it. The implementation of computers into the workplace was an important one, and the rapid speed of technological advancement is tough for companies and their employees to keep up.
